10 ways to reduce your carbon footprint

Greenhouse gases that cause global warming emerge when humanity meets its natural and social needs. Global warming also brings climate change. In recent years, we have faced many global disasters, especially in Australia, America, and most recently in Turkey, forest fires are a result of global warming.

It is really important to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases so that our world does not face bigger disasters. We use and consume many things in our homes, workplaces, and friends causes carbon gas emissions. The amount of carbon we cause to be released into nature also creates each individual’s carbon footprint.

Reducing our carbon footprint is vital for today and future generations. In this article, we will talk about 10 simple ways to reduce your carbon footprint.

1-Use a Bike or walk:

carbon footprint

First of the simplest ways to reduce our carbon footprint are to cycle or walk. Cycling for short distances in the city will prevent the release of harmful exhaust gases into nature and reduce carbon emissions. In addition, the fact that the parts of the bike you use are local and produced will indirectly reduce carbon emissions.

2-Shop at the Bazaar:

Shopping in the bazaar near you will both provide an economical contribution to the local producer and reduce the carbon emissions in the transportation and packaging of the products in the market.

3- Reduce Your Electricity Consumption:

Many of the products we use, however necessary, increase our carbon footprint. Being careful when using electrical devices reduces carbon emissions. Among the things that can be done are using led bulbs, using a laptop, using electricity-saving devices, and making sure that they do not work unnecessarily while using these products.

4- Don’t Drink Bottled Water:

Bottled water consumption leaves a lot of ecological footprints. Plastic waste used in bottles, energy used for storage, and transportation of water increases carbon emissions. Instead of using bottled water, getting our own water from natural sources or using a water purifier at home will reduce our carbon footprint.

5- Reduce Your Water Consumption:

Just like with electricity, we must be careful when using water. Using a sensor faucet, using a water-saving showerhead, using a water-saving siphon, and meeting all kinds of water needs at a minimum level will reduce carbon emissions.

6- Take Advantage of the Light and Heat of the Sun:

Take advantage of the light and heat of the sun. Opening the curtains instead of lighting a light bulb and keeping the curtains open to warm up if we are on the south side saves energy.

7- Zero Waste Project:

The separation of household waste reduces carbon emissions. Many used products, when properly disassembled, become a great products to be reused and help us protect nature.

8-Use Second-Hand Product:

It is important to use the second hand instead of throwing away the still usable items that have not completely lost their function. Thus, the amount of waste to be generated is reduced, and the amount of carbon released to nature to produce new products is reduced. Thus, we reduce our carbon footprint.

9- Reduce Paper Consumption:

Trees cut for paper production cause an increase in our carbon footprint. To prevent this, it is necessary not to receive promotional brochures and mails, to switch to e-invoices, and not to use products such as tissue paper, plastic cutlery, etc. next to the products we order from outside.

10- Insulating Homes and Workplaces:

Making insulation will both reduce energy consumption and prevent the energy we have used from wasting. Since most of the energy we use in heating is carbon-based, we will reduce emissions by that much.
