EDUCATIONAL LIFE OF NURTEN ÖZTÜRK

Nurten Öztürk, born in Mengen in 1949, completed primary and secondary school in Mengen, respectively; After graduating from Sinop Girls’ Teachers’ School, Çapa Higher Teachers’ School and Science Faculty Zoology-Botany Department, she started to work as a biology teacher in Akşehir Teachers’ School in 1971. In the same year, he married his school friend Fikret Öztürk.

 

Öztürk, who has been working as a biology teacher for 13 years in many cities of Anatolia, valued laboratory studies and students in every school he attended. Being a real trainer, Öztürk became very successful in his business life by acting with the philosophy of the importance of quality education, which he gained from his teaching life.

NURTEN ÖZTÜRK’S BUSINESS LIFE

He left his teaching job in 1984 and became a family company, Öztürkler Petrol Ltd., which was founded in 1980. started working in the company. Nurten Öztürk, together with her husband Fikret Öztürk, came to Istanbul in 1992 and founded OPET Petrolcülük A.Ş., Turkey’s first domestic fuel company. He has served in every department since the establishment of the company.

 

Social Responsibility Projects and Achievements

Nurten Öztürk leads many social responsibility projects that focus on solving social problems. He became the opinion leader and manager of the “Clean Toilet Campaign”, “Green Road Project”, “Exemplary Village Project”, “Respect for History Project” and “Traffic Detectives Project”, which had great repercussions in the society.

Nurten Öztürk is one of the rare individuals who have touched the lives of more than 20 million people with her five major social responsibility projects. Nurten Öztürk, who was deemed worthy of many awards by various institutions and organizations, was deemed worthy of the “Outstanding Service Award” given by the Turkish Grand National Assembly to individuals and institutions that provide gratuitous service for the benefit of the country.

The “Traffic Detectives” Project, which was announced at the end of 2013 to find a solution to the “traffic” problem, one of the biggest problems of our country; It started with the cooperation of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of National Education, the Presidency of Religious Affairs, the General Directorate of Security, the Police Spouses Solidarity and Solidarity Association (PEKAY) and with the contributions of OPET. The project is aimed to reach children between the ages of 3-17 and adults through children and raise awareness of 1.5 million children and young people about traffic in 3 years.

 

The project won the ‘Good Practice Award’ at the TİSK Corporate Social Responsibility Awards, traditionally made by the Turkish Confederation of Employer Unions (TİSK) in 2014. In the same year, the “Traffic Detectives Project” was deemed worthy of an award in the category of Collaborators at the Most Successful Koç Members Awards.

Nurten Öztürk, who was deemed worthy of many awards with her role in successful business life and social responsibility projects, continues to provide many supports for the interests of society and education. Being a role model for many women in Turkey and around the world, Öztürk said, “Education is what enables the eye to see, the ear to hear and the brain to think. Even though I was in the trade, I always remained a teacher”, proving once again that the secret of success lies in education.
