Starlink Satellites’ High Heating Problem Leads to Internet Outage

Starlink, the internet service of SpaceX company, of which Elon Musk is the founder and CEO, has to deal with heating problems. In the US state of Arizona, 50°C internet outages have been reported.

For some time, Starlink satellites have had to deal with high heating issues. The users complain about outages and a minimum of 7 hours of outages in connection with the temperature. Watering satellite dishes is the way to prevent these interruptions.

When the satellite dish was overheated and turned off, it users whose internet was cut off after Arizona’s temperatures of 50°C used an unusual way of getting back online. The satellite dish was watered. The reason was because the application Starlink warned: “You have an overheating problem offline. Watering in the satellite dish it worked and Starlink began to work again.

The user, who had an internet outage problem, found the solution on social media. The user posted in Reddit, “For hot regions this might be a big problem. In Arizona, it’s just noon.” the user said, “Satellite dish switches on thermal shutdown at 50°C and restarts when reached 40°C,” when he reached Starlink customer service, where the user was interrupted for seven hours. We also knew they were not the only ones to have this problem in Arizona. Because a lot of users complained of this problem. That’s why the highest temperatures of Arizona have not been present. Those who plan to choose Starlink satellites now face a big question mark.

SpaceX must tackle Starlink’s high-temperature problem and find a long-term solution to maintain the connection in bad weather conditions. We can say that in the summer period, bad days wait for Starlink.
